2012 NFL WEEK ONE PICKS

2012-2013 NFL WEEK ONE PICKS

The 2012-2013 NFL season is upon us and it is time for some football! Welcome back to NFL Picks For Free. This is the first time we did a blog so this is a new experience. But when it comes to picking games, we have been doing this for 20 years! We picked 71% winners last season and we are looking to go even higher! Make sure you come back every week to get your picks, news, and notes on everything NFL related! It's game time!

INDIANAPOLIS VS CHICAGO

Andrew Luck will make his debut against a tough Bear defense and Jay Cutler will have his old receiver Brandon Marshall back. Look for the Colts to move the ball on this Bear defense that isn't elite as they were a year ago. We may be talking more about the Bear offense then Chicago's defense. This will be no easy contest, but Chicago will pull this one out. CHI 28 IND 21

PHILADELPHIA VS CLEVELAND

The Eagles are once again favorites and everyone may be favorites against the Browns this season. The Eagles are tough, especially on defense. This Cleveland defense is no push over though and they have a new look offense that may surprise many this season. If Vick can stay healthy, the sky is the limit. Look for Philly to slowly dispose of the Browns in this one. PHI 31 CLE 17

NEW ENGLAND VS TENNESSEE

Tom Brady and company are back once again leading a dangerous offense that can steam roll anyone. With much needed defensive help, New England should be solid on defense or so they hope. Jake Locker will start and has showed promise against first team defenses in the preseason. The Titans are at home, but this will be a rough start for the Titans. NE 35 TEN 20

ATLANTA VS KANSAS CITY

Matt Ryan and this Falcon offense can be a well balanced machine this season. They Falcons only questions may be on defense. The Chiefs are once again healthy and we will finally get to see the team we looked for last year. I like the Chief offense and defense. My only concern is Matt Cassell. The Chiefs are tough at home, but Atlanta wins. ATL 35 KC 24

JACKSONVILLE VS MINNESOTA

There are a lot of questions in regards to both teams in this one. Will Adrian Peterson play? What about Maurice Jones-Drew? The winner will depend on which sophomore quarterback steps up, Blaine Gabbert or Christian Ponder. Ponder looked pretty impressive in preseason and Gabbert had a few bright spots. This is a toss up. MIN 23 JAX 21

WASHINGTON VS NEW ORLEANS

RG3 will make his rookie debut in New Orleans and the Redskins look to pull an early season upset. The Saints are without Sean Payton, but Drew Brees is an on field general. Washington will be able to score points this season and their defense may be approved. However, this one is in New Orleans and the Saints rarely lose at home. Well, not this time. NO 45 WAS 24

BUFFALO VS NEW YORK JETS

Buffalo is a much better team entering this season and some are saying the 2nd best team in the division. The Jets have trouble scoring in the preseason, but the preseason doesn't count. I don't see Buffalo scoring much on offense, especially against this Jet defense. Until Ryan Fitzpatrick becomes consistent, the Bills are not better then the Jets. If Mark Sanchez doesn't perform at home, you may just begin to hear some Tebow chants. A close game, but the Jets will score enough. NYJ 17 BUF 13

ST LOUIS VS DETROIT

The Rams are coming off a disappointing 2-14 season and are looking to make some noise. Sam Bradford is healthy again and Jeff Fisher is now head coach. Bradford has looked good so far, but they are playing a nasty defense. This new school Detroit team has all the potential in the world. However, can they keep it together? The Lions do for this one. DET 41 STL 24

MIAMI VS HOUSTON

The Houston Texans enter this season with swagger and look for them to build on what they accomplished last season with a third string rookie quarterback. With Matt Schaub back, this may be the most dangerous offense in the AFC. Miami will start rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill who does have potential. Against this Texan defense, probably not. HOU 38 MIA 13

SAN FRANCISCO VS GREEN BAY

The Packers went 15-1 last season and looked to be on their way to another Superbowl run, but was derailed by the New York Giants. The 49ers were the surprise team of the year going 13-3. This may be an early NFC championship preview. Both teams are capable of winning, but Alex Smith still hasn't won me over. Plus, Green Bay is at home. GB 24 SF 14

SEATTLE AT ARIZONA

Russell Wilson will get the start for the Seahawks, which makes a total of 5 rookie starters at quarterback this opening week. Wilson has been great and he shows potential. They face an Arizona team that still doesn't have an identity. John Skelton will get the start, but he has struggled this preseason. However, Arizona is experienced and should win in a close one. ARZ 20 SEA 17

CAROLINA VS TAMPA BAY

Cam Newton impressed us all last season on his way to rookie of the year honors. He leads a Panther team that is explosive on offense and improved on defense. Tampa Bay will be led by Josh Freeman, but I am not sure what we will get. I didn't like their look last season. The Bucs are at home, but I see no slump for Cam in this one. CAR 31 TB 17

PITTSBURGH VS DENVER

The Payton Manning era in Denver begins on prime time television at Denver. They couldn't have scripted this better. Interestingly enough, the Steelers have to still be upset after the Broncos knocked them out of the playoffs earlier this year. These are two equal teams on defense and offense. Special teams? Field goals? Yes, edge to Denver. Manning wins game one! DEN 20 PIT 17

CINCINNATI VS BALTIMORE

The Bengals were the surprise team of last season and they have a great quarterback-receiver combination going. They also have a great defense that ranked 7th a year ago. The Ravens swept the series last season, but the games were close. This is a different defense without Suggs, but the Ravens should hold on to a close win at home. BAL 23 CIN 16

SAN DIEGO VS OAKLAND

San Diego and Oakland both look to rebound on disappointing seasons a year ago. Oakland is tough in the black hole and Carson Palmer has had enough time to learn the system. We just never know which Charger team we will get. They are on the road and I don't know if the defense can hold their own just yet. Oakland wins this one. OAK 19 SD 17
