2012 NFL WEEK 2 PICKS

2012 NFL WEEK TWO PICKS

RAVENS TRAVEL TO PHILADELPHIA; OHIO RIVALRY BETWEEN BENGALS AND BROWNS; JETS/STEELERS

RECORD 13-4
Record includes Green Bay/Chicago Game

The NFL's week 2 slate began on Thursday as the Green Bay Packers(1-1) shut down the Chicago Bear(1-1). This weeks action includes several key division games and rivalry games. Including the Green Bay and Chicago game, we are off to a 13-4 start this year. With that, it is on too the picks!

KANSAS CITY (0-1) VS BUFFALO (0-1)

The Chiefs and the Bills both had slow starts in their first games so something has to give. I still don't believe that Buffalo is a contender. Without Fred Jackson in the backfield, the Bills are going to turn to C J Spiller yet again.  I saw more in Kansas City last week with their slow start then I did with Buffalo's slow start last Sunday. Even so, Bills win this one at home.  BUF 20 KC 10

CLEVELAND (0-1) VS CINCINNATI (0-1)

Cleveland played a solid game last Sunday against a solid Superbowl contender, at least we think they are. As for the Bengals, they had a up and down game despite a 44-13 loss. The Bengals have won the last 3 games and 6 out of 7 in the series. After a crushing lost, I look for the Bengals to bounce back. Without Joe Haden, Andy Dalton and A J Green will do damage.  CIN 28 CLE 14

MINNESOTA (1-0) VS INDIANAPOLIS (0-1)

The Andrew Luck era began with 4 turnovers last week, but he did make some great throws. The Vikings pulled out an overtime victory at home last Sunday, but were not impressive themselves. Adrian Peterson is the key in this game. The questions still need answered. Andrew Luck will be at home and I think the Colts pull off the upset.  IND 28 MIN 24

NEW ORLEANS (0-1) VS CAROLINA (0-1)

This is a very dangerous game for both these teams. Both teams had high expectations and a 0-2 start was not on the list. The Saints will face a familiar foe in Cam Newton whom plays similar to RG3. The Saint defense is terrible, but Carolina only managed 10 points last week against Tampa Bay. This should be a high scoring game and the Saints are in trouble.  CAR 34 NO 28

HOUSTON (1-0) VS JACKSONVILLE (0-1)

The Jaguars will be at home for this one, but expect no home field advantage. The Texans are a very dangerous team on both sides of the ball. The Texan running game should have a big day which will allow seams to open for Matt Schaub. If Jacksonville can get Jones-Drew through this Texan defense, they may keep it close, but the Texans have way too much offensive power.  HOU 38 JAX 17

OAKLAND (0-1) VS MIAMI (0-1)

The Miami Dolphins couldn't get any offense going last Sunday. Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill looked out of place against a tough defense. The Raiders lost their game because of bad snaps by the long snapper. Miami just doesn't have weapons. They should have kept Chad Johnson. Oakland has a solid defense, running back, and quarterback. Raiders win in Miami.  OAK 24 MIA 19

ARIZONA (1-0) VS NEW ENGLAND (1-0)

The Arizona Cardinals have to travel all the way to New England after a tough win at home against Seattle. The Cardinals lost their starting quarterback so Kevin Kolb will get the start. On the other side, Tom Brady and the Patriots looked better then they did last season. They established a running game and defense in week one. The Pats are the team to beat.  NE 35  AZ 14

TAMPA BAY (1-0) VS NEW YORK GIANTS (0-1)

Everything in Tampa Bay went smooth last weekend as their defense held Carolina to 10 points. The offense struggled at times, but managed the game. If the Bucs want to go 2-0, Freeman has to step up. The Giants haven't played since September 5th and that loss has hurt long enough. Look for Eli to play inspired and for the Giant defense to rebound.  NYG 24  TB 10

BALTIMORE (1-0) VS PHILADELPHIA (1-0)

This game has Superbowl contenders all over it. The Ravens enter this game with their heads held high after a dominating performance against a solid Bengal team. The Eagles struggled all day as Vick and company had 5 turnovers on offense. At this point in the season, the Ravens are a better team. The no huddle offense works for them and they will win on the road.  BAL 20 PHI 14

WASHINGTON (1-0) VS ST LOUIS (0-1)

Robert Griffin III showed that he is big time last week. RG3 has the ability to be an NFL star. This will be no easy contest as this is not the same 2-14 St. Louis team from a year ago. Sam Bradford is a solid starter and showed that last week against a physical Lion defense. The Redskins have confidence after their win in New Orleans. Washington improves to 2-0.  WASH 21 STL 17

DALLAS (1-0) VS SEATTLE (0-1)

Tony Romo is off to a great start and the Cowboys are riding high after downing the Superbowl champs. The Cowboy defense played solid and the atmosphere is much different with this Cowboy squad. Seattle is never an easy place to play. The Seahawks have all the talent in the world, but they are a young team. Dallas will get pressure on Wilson and cause him to make errors. Seattle's defense can make it close, but it won't be enough.  DAL 28 SEA 15

NEW YORK JETS (1-0) VS PITTSBURGH (0-1)

Mark Sanchez came out firing against Buffalo last weekend and had a field day. This time, he plays a very tough and physical Steeler team that is much better then the Bills. The Steelers went to Denver and was showed up on prime time television. The Jets will be without Darrelle Revis and the Steelers are probably without Troy Polamalu and James Harrison. The Steelers are at home and their wanting to smell victory again. Look for Pittsburgh to bounce back in this one.  PIT 27 NYJ 17

TENNESSEE (0-1) VS SAN DIEGO (1-0)

I really like this young Titan team. Jake Locker showed he is a worthy starter but Chris Johnson failed to show up again. Without the running game, the Titans are doomed. Philip Rivers and the Chargers were not impressive in their win, but they were solid in a hostile environment. The Chargers are at home and unless the Titans get a big day from Johnson, they are in trouble.  SD 25 TEN 14

DETROIT (1-0) VS SAN FRANCISCO (1-0)

Detroit struggled last week against a rebuilding St. Louis team. Matthew Stafford and the offense won the game in the final seconds. The 49ers are playing with a new level of confidence after destroying the Green Bay Packers despite a close score. The 49ers are at home and Detroit doesn't appear to have that swagger yet. San Francisco wins a close defensive game.  SF 23 DET 20

DENVER (1-0) VS ATLANTA (1-0)

Payton Manning showed us last week that he is better then ever. The Broncos are still a young team. The defense came up big when it is counted. Atlanta is led by Matt Ryan and he has a host of weapons with Julio Jones, Rodney White, and Tony Gonzalez. The Falcons are at home and they rarely lose there. Atlanta wins in a close game.  ATL 28 DEN 27
