2012 NFL WEEK 4 PICKS
Do Saints Have A Chance In Green Bay? Giants And Eagles Clash
RECORD 32-14
Includes Cleveland/Baltimore Game
CAROLINA (1-2) VS ATLANTA (3-0)
The Panthers have been wanting to get that New York loss out their mouth for awhile now. This Carolina team is different then last season. It nearly feels that they do not believe. They face a dangerous Atlanta team that is great at home. Matt Ryan has came into his own and he has play makers. Falcons are better in all aspects of the game. ATL 38 CAR 20
NEW ENGLAND (1-2) VS BUFFALO (2-1)
The Patriots are off to a rare 1-2 start and they know how important this game is. After a tough loss on the road, look for the Pats to come out on all 8 cylinders. The Bills are anything but consistent. If they can put a solid game together on both sides of the ball, they have the chance to drop New England. However, I don't see that happening. NE 31 BUF 17
MINNESOTA (2-1) VS DETROIT (1-2)
It is time to give the Vikings respect. Minnesota is a solid team and Christian Ponder has showed he can play early in his sophomore season. Detroit has had a tough schedule so far, but this is not the same team from a year ago. Detroit's defense has been awful this season and the offense has no rhythm. Look for the Vikings to pull off another upset. MIN 24 DET 23
SAN DIEGO (2-1) VS KANSAS CITY (1-2)
San Diego was roughed up at home last week against Sunday and the Chiefs pulled off a great upset win against New Orleans. Look for Phillip Rivers and the Chargers to mount a complete turn around and dispose of the Kansas City Chiefs. SD 31 KC 14
SAN FRANCISCO (2-1) VS NEW YORK JETS (2-1)
The 49ers did not show up last week and it cost them a win. The Jets are lucky to be 2-1 and in first place at this point of the season. This will be a tough game, a defensive battle that marks two solid defenses. Look for the 49ers to manage enough points to win yet another road game. Mark Sanchez won't be able to get the offense started. SF 20 NYJ 10
SEATTLE (2-1) VS ST LOUIS (1-2)
Despite the given win, this Seattle team is tough. With a little help on offense, Seattle is a playoff contender. The Rams are a much better team then they were a year ago, but not by much. Seattle is tough but not so much on the road. The Rams have a slight edge in this game. STL 20 SEA 13
TENNESSEE (1-2) VS HOUSTON (3-0)
Jake Locker has showed poise in his first starting year, but Chris Johnson remains as a no show. Houston is just on another level. The Texans are top 10 on offense ans defense. They remind me of the teams from the 90s, such as Dallas and New York. The sky is the limit for these Texans and I see no road bump here. HOU 27 TEN 14
OAKLAND (1-2) VS DENVER (1-2)
The last thing both of these teams want is a 1-3 start. This is a big divisional game for both teams. Denver has had a brutal early schedule. Oakland has played bad, but they showed character in a big win against the Steelers. Denver is at home and I believe they will rebound against the Raiders. Look for a big day from Peyton. DEN 23 OAK 20
MIAMI (1-2) VS ARIZONA (3-0)
Miami has showed potential early on but Reggie Bush went down last Sunday. Arizona may just be the best team in the NFL. Arizona has defeated Seattle, New England, and Philadelphia. All 3 of these teams are playoff contenders. Miami won't make it easy, but look for the Cardinals to shine once again at home and improve to 4-0. ARZ 27 MIA 17
CINCINNATI (2-1) VS JACKSONVILLE (1-2)
The Bengal defense hasn't showed up in the first 3 games and they are injury plagued, especially in the secondary. However, the Jaguars are a running team. This is a game that could go either way. If the Bengals defense could catch their former glory, the Bengals would be tough to beat. Jacksonville needs a heavy dose of the running game in order to win. CIN 30 JAX 27
NEW ORLEANS (0-3) VS GREEN BAY (1-2)
When the season began, none of us would have picked the 1-5 record between these two teams. Green Bay should be 2-1 though. I don't see the Saints pulling off a win in Green Bay. We now see how important Sean Payton was to the Saints. Look for Aaron Rodgers to be on and for the Green Bay defense to live up to their ranking. GB 24 NO 20
WASHINGTON (1-2) VS TAMPA BAY (1-2)
Both teams have lost their last 2 games and both need a big win. After a hot start, RG3 has cooled down. Tampa Bay has a tough defense and they are playing at home. The Redskins are a solid team and RG3 is due for a big game. Anyway, the Skins are better. WASH 24 TB 21
NEW YORK (2-1) VS PHILADELPHIA (2-1)
This could be a potential NFC Championship game preview. Philly has to take better care of the ball and protect Vick. If not, it is going to be a very long season for this team. The Giants are once again below radar and underrated. Look for Eli and the Giants to pull off a big road win against the Eagles. Eagles win if Vick is near prefect, but he won't be. NYG 23 PHI 21
CHICAGO (2-1) VS DALLAS (2-1)
I still don't know about both of these teams. The Bears seem to struggle against tough competition and Dallas thrives. However, the Cowboys play sloppy against teams that are not better then them. This will be an good game for Monday Night Football. I believe it will be a defensive battle as both have solid defenses. In the end, the Bears will pull away. CHI 24 DAL 17

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL CLEVELAND VS BALTIMORE
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL 2012
CLEVELAND (0-3) VS BALTIMORE (2-1)
The Cleveland Browns and their young team travel to Baltimore too play the Ravens on Thursday Night Football. The Browns are rested, but the Ravens are coming off a late win on Sunday Night Football. With little rest, can the Ravens handle the Browns?
On paper, this looks like a sure win for the Ravens, but is it? Momentum is a big factor and for an veteran team like Baltimore, it is crucial. Their game against New England took a lot out of their team on Sunday. Not only that, they are playing their AFC North division rivals. I believe this game will be closer then others think.
Joe Flacco will not have to worry about Joe Haden tonight, whom is Cleveland's best defensive player. Flacco is 8-0 against Cleveland and you know how tough Baltimore is at home. The Ravens will eventually pull away. but it won't be easy. Expect this game to be physical, brutal, and it will be raining. If the Browns want to win, they have to get a good game from both their rookies, Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson. They have a chance against a tired Baltimore defense.
In the end, the Ravens will win a close game and Flacco will remain undefeated against the Browns. Look for the Ravens to get Ray Rice involved more, both in the run and pass.

ST LOUIS (1-1) VS CHICAGO (1-1)
The Chicago Bears have been waiting to get back on the field after a crushing loss against Green Bay. The Bears are better at home but can the Chicago offensive line keep Cutler upright? St. Louis is no walkover. Jeff Fisher has this St. Louis defense playing physical and they are solid. Chicago can't afford too fall to 1-2. I see the Bears winning a tough game in this one. CHI 23 STL 20
TAMPA BAY (1-1) VS DALLAS (1-1)
Just when Dallas looks unstoppable, they lay an egg and the offense only manages 7 points. So which Cowboy team do we get in this one? Tampa Bay is still a sleeper pick. They should be 2-0 at this point and the Bucs are still thinking about that loss against the Giants. You better believe both teams will be ready on Sunday. Dallas opens at home with a win. DAL 24 TB 20
SAN FRANCISCO (2-0) VS MINNESOTA (1-1)
The Vikings are at home for this one and Randy Moss returns to the dome. The 49ers are the best team in the NFL hands down. They are better then Minnesota in all areas of the game. This Viking offense will have trouble scoring and moving the ball against the 49er defense. Look for Frank Gore to have 100 yards rushing or more. San Francisco makes it look easy. SF 31 MIN 14
DETROIT (1-1) VS TENNESSEE (0-2)
The Titans have struggled in both their games while Detroit has been up and down. Detroit is a solid team, but they have trouble playing against the elite of the NFL. The Titans are not elite, nor good at this point and time. I still want a quarterback change. Where is Chris Johnson? Despite that, Locker will find a way to win his first game at home. TEN 34 DET 31
CINCINNATI (1-1) VS WASHINGTON (1-1)
The Redskins are at home for the first time this season and the crowd should be pumped up. The Bengals have been once again plagued by big name injuries and this tough defense has not played like they did a season ago. This will be a tough test for the Bengals. RG3 came back down to Earth last week but the kid is talented. However, I like Dalton and Green in this one. CIN 20 WAS 19
NEW YORK JETS (1-1) VS MIAMI (1-1)
Miami played much better last week at home as Reggie Bush went crazy. The Jet defense and offense struggled against a tough Pittsburgh team. This is a big game for both teams. The Jets have Darrell Revis back, but I am more worried about the front seven. Miami gives up a lot of yards and Mark Sanchez should have a good day. Maybe we will see Tebow. NYJ 28 MIA 20
KANSAS CITY (0-2) VS NEW ORLEANS (0-2)
The Saints are 0-2 and I don't believe any of us saw this. You are now seeing the value of coaching staff. Kansas City has the talent to beat the Saints, but there is no chemistry on this team. This is a dire situation for the Saints, a must win game for New Orleans. However, we know that this is not the same New Orleans team, the one that rarely gets beat at home. Both teams have had trouble on defense and KC is the better team. Saints will be 0-3. KC 31 NO 30
BUFFALO (1-1) VS CLEVELAND (0-2)
The Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills were supposed to have top rated defenses this season, but they haven't showed up yet. Both teams have trouble passing, despite the stats. This will be a rushing contest. It will be CJ Spiller and Trent Richardson in this one. Brandon Weeden showed potential last week, but the Bengal defense was playing prevent. Look for the Browns to keep it close, but the Bills pull away late. BUF 28 CLE 17
JACKSONVILLE (0-2) VS INDIANAPOLIS (1-1)
The Colts blew a 14 point lead at home last Sunday but managed to get their first win of the season. The Jaguars need to play for 4 quarters instead of only the second half. The Colts can score, but their defense has had issues. The Colts are giving up nearly 31 points a game. If Jacksonville can get out the gates early, they can get a win. I feel a mild upset. JAX 27 IND 24
PHILADELPHIA (2-0) VS ARIZONA (2-0)
The Arizona Cardinals had a huge win last week defeating New England at home 20-18. This Arizona defense is something special early in the season. However, they face a team that is dangerous in Michael Vick and the Eagles. If Philadelphia cuts the turnovers, they may just be unbeatable. They are traveling out west, but the Eagles win a another tough game. PHI 27 ARI 20
ATLANTA (2-0) VS SAN DIEGO (2-0)
The second matchup of undefeated teams is the Falcons and Chargers. Atlanta has looked great, much better then the Chargers. The Falcons haven't lost in San Diego ever. The Falcon defense is matching that dangerous offense. Philip Rivers has only one interception so far and if they get Matthews back, they can make it interesting. Falcons move to 3-0. ATL 24 SD 17
HOUSTON (2-0) VS DENVER (1-1)
Peyton Manning struggled against Atlanta and Houston has a better defense. Denver is at home, but the Broncos offense will have issued against the Texans. Denver is solid on defense, but Houston has so many weapons on offense. The Texans have the top ranked defense, only allowing 8.5 points per game. Denver will score a little more, but not enough. HOU 28 DEN 17
PITTSBURGH (1-1) VS OAKLAND (0-2)
The Steelers are a team that Carson Palmer knows well. Oakland has played well at home over the years and have pulled out some big wins. The Steelers have been plagued with injuries, big names on both sides of the ball. However, the Steelers have owned Palmer and I expect no difference. It will be a physical game and the Steelers will eventually pull away. PIT 27 OAK 17
NEW ENGLAND (1-1) VS BALTIMORE (1-1)
Could you even imagine one of these teams at 1-2? This is a big game for both teams. Baltimore is at home in this one, where they play the best. However, they haven't beat New England in the regular season. Wes Welker has been absent from the Patriot offense and the offense was out of rhythm last Sunday. The Patriot defense is better and they respond on the road. NE 21 BAL 20
GREEN BAY (1-1) VS SEATTLE (1-1)
We saw last week how tough Seattle is at home. The Green Bay defense played huge against Chicago and they will have to stop a balanced Seattle offense. The Seahawk defense is just as impressive. If anyone can handle such a hostile crowd, it is Aaron Rodgers. I believe this will be a closer game then people suspect, but Green Bay pulls out the win. GB 31 SEA 21

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL NEW YORK GIANTS VS CAROLINA PANTHERS
NEW YORK GIANTS TRAVEL TO CAROLINA TO FACE THE PANTHERS ON THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Thursday begins the third week of the young NFL season as the New York Giants (1-1) hit the road to take on the Carolina Panthers (1-1). Eli Manning passed for over 500 yards in yet another 4th quarter comeback against the Bucs on Sunday to get their first win of the season. The Panthers also won their first game of the year by downing the New Orleans Saints. Time to discuss the matchup.
After two weeks of NFL football, we are beginning to see where the teams are placing. However, these two teams have more questions then answers. The New York Giant defense was supposed to be the main strength of this football team this year, but they haven't played to that level as of yet. The Giant defense is ranked 18th, but they are giving up 29 points per game. Besides the 4th quarter of last week's game, the New York offense has struggled. The Tamp Bay offense gave the yardage to Manning, at the least a large portion of the 500 yards.
Despite all the trouble with this team, you can't doubt their ability to play big when it counts. When the game was on the line last week, the defense stood tall and Eli put points on the board. It will be interesting to see what the Giant front seven will do against one of the best rushing teams in the NFL. Not only that, the Panthers can throw the ball as well. The Giants are better on the road then they are at home. They have showed this for the past few seasons. In a tough division, a 1-2 record is something to worry about.
The Carolina Panthers won a shoot out last Sunday against the Saints and improved on their week one performance. Before the beginning of the season, everyone questioned this defense. With all the additions, we figured that this defense would be solid. The Panther defense is ranked 19th, but only allowing 21 points per contest, way less then the Giants. We can compare the Giants and Panthers because both of them played Tampa Bay already. The Giants won against the Bucs and the Panthers lost. The Panther defense has played solid, but the secondary is suspect. This defense will have their hands full with Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks, whom both have 237 yards receiving in two games.
The Carolina offense depends on the arm and legs of sophomore stud Cam Newton. The offense has struggled this season running the ball as Newton is the leading rusher through 2 games with 75 yards. Carolina will always keep the defense honest because of Newton's running abilities, but they have to establish a running attack. But until the offensive line opens holes, I don't see it coming.
Newton has been solid in his first two starts. Newton is completing 70% of his passes for 556 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. His big target yet again is Steve Smith, who has caught 10 passed for 210 yards. Brandon LaFell has been a surprise at the wideout, catching 9 balls for 155 yards and a touchdown. The Panther offense will be challenged by a Giant defense that played lights out in the 2nd half of their last game. But with a short week, anything is possible.
NEW YORK 24 CAROLINA 19
The Giants are one of the NFL's best road teams and expect no difference on Thursday Night Football. More times then not, the Giants find a way to win, especially when it counts the most. The best thing Carolina could do is get out to a fast start. The Panthers are no walk over and they have the ability to put up points. However, their weakness is still on the defensive side of the ball. Carolina can guard Eli nor his top two receivers. Carolina will keep it close, but the Giants pull off the road win.

2012 NFL WEEK 2 PICKS
2012 NFL WEEK TWO PICKS
RAVENS TRAVEL TO PHILADELPHIA; OHIO RIVALRY BETWEEN BENGALS AND BROWNS; JETS/STEELERS
RECORD 13-4
Record includes Green Bay/Chicago Game
The NFL's week 2 slate began on Thursday as the Green Bay Packers(1-1) shut down the Chicago Bear(1-1). This weeks action includes several key division games and rivalry games. Including the Green Bay and Chicago game, we are off to a 13-4 start this year. With that, it is on too the picks!
KANSAS CITY (0-1) VS BUFFALO (0-1)
The Chiefs and the Bills both had slow starts in their first games so something has to give. I still don't believe that Buffalo is a contender. Without Fred Jackson in the backfield, the Bills are going to turn to C J Spiller yet again. I saw more in Kansas City last week with their slow start then I did with Buffalo's slow start last Sunday. Even so, Bills win this one at home. BUF 20 KC 10
CLEVELAND (0-1) VS CINCINNATI (0-1)
Cleveland played a solid game last Sunday against a solid Superbowl contender, at least we think they are. As for the Bengals, they had a up and down game despite a 44-13 loss. The Bengals have won the last 3 games and 6 out of 7 in the series. After a crushing lost, I look for the Bengals to bounce back. Without Joe Haden, Andy Dalton and A J Green will do damage. CIN 28 CLE 14
MINNESOTA (1-0) VS INDIANAPOLIS (0-1)
The Andrew Luck era began with 4 turnovers last week, but he did make some great throws. The Vikings pulled out an overtime victory at home last Sunday, but were not impressive themselves. Adrian Peterson is the key in this game. The questions still need answered. Andrew Luck will be at home and I think the Colts pull off the upset. IND 28 MIN 24
NEW ORLEANS (0-1) VS CAROLINA (0-1)
This is a very dangerous game for both these teams. Both teams had high expectations and a 0-2 start was not on the list. The Saints will face a familiar foe in Cam Newton whom plays similar to RG3. The Saint defense is terrible, but Carolina only managed 10 points last week against Tampa Bay. This should be a high scoring game and the Saints are in trouble. CAR 34 NO 28
HOUSTON (1-0) VS JACKSONVILLE (0-1)
The Jaguars will be at home for this one, but expect no home field advantage. The Texans are a very dangerous team on both sides of the ball. The Texan running game should have a big day which will allow seams to open for Matt Schaub. If Jacksonville can get Jones-Drew through this Texan defense, they may keep it close, but the Texans have way too much offensive power. HOU 38 JAX 17
OAKLAND (0-1) VS MIAMI (0-1)
The Miami Dolphins couldn't get any offense going last Sunday. Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill looked out of place against a tough defense. The Raiders lost their game because of bad snaps by the long snapper. Miami just doesn't have weapons. They should have kept Chad Johnson. Oakland has a solid defense, running back, and quarterback. Raiders win in Miami. OAK 24 MIA 19
ARIZONA (1-0) VS NEW ENGLAND (1-0)
The Arizona Cardinals have to travel all the way to New England after a tough win at home against Seattle. The Cardinals lost their starting quarterback so Kevin Kolb will get the start. On the other side, Tom Brady and the Patriots looked better then they did last season. They established a running game and defense in week one. The Pats are the team to beat. NE 35 AZ 14
TAMPA BAY (1-0) VS NEW YORK GIANTS (0-1)
Everything in Tampa Bay went smooth last weekend as their defense held Carolina to 10 points. The offense struggled at times, but managed the game. If the Bucs want to go 2-0, Freeman has to step up. The Giants haven't played since September 5th and that loss has hurt long enough. Look for Eli to play inspired and for the Giant defense to rebound. NYG 24 TB 10
BALTIMORE (1-0) VS PHILADELPHIA (1-0)
This game has Superbowl contenders all over it. The Ravens enter this game with their heads held high after a dominating performance against a solid Bengal team. The Eagles struggled all day as Vick and company had 5 turnovers on offense. At this point in the season, the Ravens are a better team. The no huddle offense works for them and they will win on the road. BAL 20 PHI 14
WASHINGTON (1-0) VS ST LOUIS (0-1)
Robert Griffin III showed that he is big time last week. RG3 has the ability to be an NFL star. This will be no easy contest as this is not the same 2-14 St. Louis team from a year ago. Sam Bradford is a solid starter and showed that last week against a physical Lion defense. The Redskins have confidence after their win in New Orleans. Washington improves to 2-0. WASH 21 STL 17
DALLAS (1-0) VS SEATTLE (0-1)
Tony Romo is off to a great start and the Cowboys are riding high after downing the Superbowl champs. The Cowboy defense played solid and the atmosphere is much different with this Cowboy squad. Seattle is never an easy place to play. The Seahawks have all the talent in the world, but they are a young team. Dallas will get pressure on Wilson and cause him to make errors. Seattle's defense can make it close, but it won't be enough. DAL 28 SEA 15
NEW YORK JETS (1-0) VS PITTSBURGH (0-1)
Mark Sanchez came out firing against Buffalo last weekend and had a field day. This time, he plays a very tough and physical Steeler team that is much better then the Bills. The Steelers went to Denver and was showed up on prime time television. The Jets will be without Darrelle Revis and the Steelers are probably without Troy Polamalu and James Harrison. The Steelers are at home and their wanting to smell victory again. Look for Pittsburgh to bounce back in this one. PIT 27 NYJ 17
TENNESSEE (0-1) VS SAN DIEGO (1-0)
I really like this young Titan team. Jake Locker showed he is a worthy starter but Chris Johnson failed to show up again. Without the running game, the Titans are doomed. Philip Rivers and the Chargers were not impressive in their win, but they were solid in a hostile environment. The Chargers are at home and unless the Titans get a big day from Johnson, they are in trouble. SD 25 TEN 14
DETROIT (1-0) VS SAN FRANCISCO (1-0)
Detroit struggled last week against a rebuilding St. Louis team. Matthew Stafford and the offense won the game in the final seconds. The 49ers are playing with a new level of confidence after destroying the Green Bay Packers despite a close score. The 49ers are at home and Detroit doesn't appear to have that swagger yet. San Francisco wins a close defensive game. SF 23 DET 20
DENVER (1-0) VS ATLANTA (1-0)
Payton Manning showed us last week that he is better then ever. The Broncos are still a young team. The defense came up big when it is counted. Atlanta is led by Matt Ryan and he has a host of weapons with Julio Jones, Rodney White, and Tony Gonzalez. The Falcons are at home and they rarely lose there. Atlanta wins in a close game. ATL 28 DEN 27
NFL WEEK 2 GAME OF THE WEEK RAVENS/EAGLES
NFL WEEK 2 GAME OF THE WEEK
BALTIMORE (1-0) VS PHILADELPHIA(1-0)
Many experts have called this game their Superbowl pick or have chosen one or the other to be Superbowl champions this season. This game has all the hype of such a contest and rightfully so. Emotions are riding high as the Baltimore Ravens travel to the city of brotherly love to face Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles.
After Raven quarterback Joe Flacco stated that he was the best quarterback in the league, he came out and played like it as the Ravens dealt a crushing blow to their AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals 44-13 on Monday Night Football. On the other hand, the Eagles had to overcome 5 turnovers and pull out a 4th quarter comeback against a suspect Cleveland Brown team. After a 17-16 win against Cleveland, many are wondering just what the Eagles are made of.
If Michael Vick and the Eagles want to win, he can't throw interceptions. He will be playing a talented secondary again this week after throwing 4 interceptions against a solid Cleveland secondary. Flacco went pass happy against an over rated secondary last week in the Raven's win against the Bengals. The defenses are even in this contest so it will be up to Vick and Flacco to make the difference between a loss and win.
When you look at these two teams, they are closely related. Both teams are great on defense, very physical, and have offensive weapons. This should be a very good game, one that will live up to all the hype. Both the Eagles and Ravens want to run the ball. They both play similar styles, provide the run to open the passing game. It will depend on which team does this the most successful. The winner of this game will be the team that has the most success in the running game.
The Ravens need to get Ray Rice involved more. In their 44-13 win against Cincinnati, Ray Rice only ran the ball 10 times. He rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns. LeSean McCoy ran for 110 yards last week against Cleveland.
Both defenses played very solid in their wins last week. The Eagles allowed 99 yards rushing, but only allowed 111 through the air. The Ravens gave up 129 yards on the ground and 193 through the passing game. The Eagle offense managed 456 total yards and the Ravens managed 430 total yards. Both teams played defenses that ranked in the top 7 last season.
This is going to be a very physical game. The Eagles have the home field advantage as Baltimore is not as dominant of a team on the road. However, this Raven offense may be the best they ever put on the field. Philadelphia made Cleveland look better then they are last week and Baltimore showed up a solid Bengal squad. This game is a toss up, but I believe Baltimore is the better team at this point in the season.

NFL WEEK TWO RANKINGS
2012 WEEK TWO RANKINGS-PATS ON TOP
We are now entering the second week of the 2012 NFL season and we are seeing which teams are contenders and which ones are pretenders. New England showed off a balance attack as their off season moves on defense paid dividends. We also saw how dominant Baltimore looked against a solid Cincinnati team. The Dallas Cowboys shut down the Superbowl champs and San Francisco looked like they did a year ago. Here are the rankings entering week two.
- New England Patriots +1
- Baltimore Ravens +2
- Houston Texans --
- San Francisco 49ers +8
- Philadelphia Eagles +1
- Denver Broncos +3
- New York Giants -6
- Green Bay Packers -3
- Detroit Lions +1
- Pittsburgh Steelers -3
- Atlanta Falcons +2
- Dallas Cowboys +2
- New Orleans Saints -5
- San Diego Chargers +2
- Chicago Bears -4
- Cincinnati Bengals -2
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers +2
- Washington Redskins +8
- Carolina Panthers -4
- Tennessee Titans -3
- New York Jets -1
- Arizona Cardinals +1
- Minnesota Vikings +4
- Indianapolis Colts -3
- Kansas City Chiefs --
- Oakland Raiders -1
- Seattle Seahawks -4
- St. Louis Rams --
- Cleveland Browns +1
- Jacksonville Jaguars +2
- Miami Dolphins -2
- Buffalo Bills -1
The Washington Redskins and the San Francisco 49ers both moved up 8 spots in this week's poll. The Redskins may have something special with Robert Griffin III. He out shined all rookie starters and all 2nd year starters as well. They are still a work in progress team so only time will tell if they can keep it up. The 49ers proved that last year wasn't a fluke with a convincing win over Green Bay. I wasn't sure how Alex Smith would act after the 49ers tried to bring in Payton Manning.
It may be time to hit the panic button in New Orleans. The defense was terrible and I believe that they have a terrible game plan against Washington. They play a Carolina team that is dangerous and has a much better defense. The Dallas Cowboys looked great but haven't played since September 5th. They take on a Seattle team that is solid all around. A 2-0 start would be perfect for this energized Cowboy team.

CHICAGO BEARS(1-0) @ GREEN BAY PACKERS(0-1) NFL WEEK 2
PACKERS RISK RARE 3 GAME LOSING STREAK AT HOME
The latest chapter of one of the NFL's oldest rivalries begins again on Thursday as the Chicago Bears travel to Wisconsin to take on the Green Bay Packers. After an opening day win against the Colts, the Bears(1-0) look to ride the momentum as they face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers(0-1).
The Chicago Bears are coming off a 41-21 victory over the Indianapolis Colts while the Packers were stunned by San Francisco the same week. Look for Chicago to try and get to gates quick against a very suspect Packer defense. Green Bay didn't play well in all aspects of the game. Offense, defense, and special teams were issues for the Packers in their game against the 49ers. Green Bay didn't come close too looking like they did a season ago when they went 15-1.
The Chicago offense is more dangerous then ever. Jay Cutler is coming into his own as well as Matt Forte. With the addition of Brandon Marchall, the Bears have their first real deep threat receiver. Cutler has the ability to take the Green Bay defense apart, if the offensive line can protect him. Green Bay's front has to get pressure on Cutler and force him to make mistakes. We saw this early in the game against the Colts until Chicago made the right adjustments.
Despite going 1-10 at one point, Jay Cutler finished 21-35 for 333 yards and 2 touchdowns. Marshall had a big debut game for the Bears catching 9 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. Matt Forte rushed for 80 yards on just 16 carries. Alshon Jeffrey showed that he is also a threat on this Bear offense with 80 yards on 3 catches and a touchdown. This Chicago offense will be a challenge for a weak Packer defense.
Despite throwing for 303 yards and 2 scores, Aaron Rodgers and the Packer offense struggled for the most part. Most of Rodger's yards came during the 4th quarter when the 49er defense was in zone coverage. They have all the talent in the world with Greg Jennings, Randall Cobb, James Jones, Jordy Nelson, and Jermichael Finley. Chicago's defense gave up 293 yards to Andrew Luck, but only allowed 62 rushing yards. Green Bay's running game was non existent. To tell the story, Rodgers was the leading rusher with 27 yards.
Green Bay's pass defense only gave up 191 yards, a big improvement from last season. Even so, that was against a run first offense. Rushing yards, Green Bay gave up 186 on the ground to San Francisco. Green Bay has to keep Forte in check if they want to win. They are going to be challenged by Cutler whom is a much better passer then Alex Smith.
The key for Green Bay is to get pressure on Jay Cutler. Chicago's offensive line has improved, but they are still suspect early in the season. It appears that Cutler is getting the ball away much faster. For Chicago, they have to take advantage of a non existent running game. They are very talented in the front seven. No matter what, this will be a great one.
It has been nearly two years since the Bears last win against the Packers. Green Bay didn't look like themselves on Sunday. Chicago now has an offense to go with that great defense. Playing in Green Bay is never easy. The Packers are on a two game home skid and I don't see them dropping three in a row at home. This is no easy victory. Chicago can score with Green Bay and their defense is much better. Green Bay will make the correct adjustments and win a very close game.

NFL WEEK ONE-WHAT WE LEARNED
2012 NFL WEEK ONE REVIEW
Baltimore Cruises, Payton Of Old, And RG3
With the first week of the 2012 NFL season in the books, we now take a look to see which teams are rising and which teams are falling. Scoring wasn't an issue in week one of the NFL as quarterbacks shined and defenses crumbled. Five teams put up 40 points or more, pretty impressive on opening day. Nine teams scored at least 30, so what gives? The NFL is pass happy and we have all the latest NFL notes that you will ever need. Week 1 rewind.
Since we are on the topic of defense, how about those Jets? The New York Jets only managed 1 touchdown during the preseason. In week one against Buffalo, the Jets put up 48. If you haven't heard it by now, the preseason doesn't mean anything! Everyone has been talking about how good Buffalo will be this year. After week one, they're not. I still don't know if the Jet offense is that good or Buffalo's defense is just that bad.
Speaking of defense, where were they in week one? I have to give credit where credit is due and that goes to the New England Patriots. The Patriots held the Titans to 13 points, a much improved defense from their 31st ranked defense last season. The Cleveland Browns held the high octane offense of the Philadelphia Eagles in check for the entire day, only giving up 17 points despite the yardage. You can't talk about defense without mentioning the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens held a good Cincinnati offense to just 13 points without their pro bowl linebacker Terrel Suggs.
Robbert Griffin III had a very successful debut on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints on the road. RG3 passed for 320 yards, two touchdowns, and completed 73% of his passes. He was the only rookie starter in week one without a turnover. A 40-32 victory over the Saints at home is never an easy task to accomplish.
The Payton Manning era in Denver began with a 31-19 win over the tough Pittsburgh Steelers. Payton looked like his former self and he played very solid against a top ranked defense. Payton was 19-26 with 253 yards and 2 touchdowns. With Manning in Denver, rookie Andrew Luck began his signal caller era for the Colts in Chicago. Andrew Luck only completed 51% of his passes in a 41-21 loss to the Bears. He did throw his first NFL touchdown, but also threw his first 3 interceptions. Interestingly enough, his touchdown and 3 picks matched Payton Manning's numbers in his rookie debut for the Colts. Talk about history repeating.
The San Francisco 49ers looked great in their game against the Green Bay Packers in all areas of the game. The 49ers took it to the Packers on Sunday, despite a close score of 30-22. The San Francisco defense only gave up 2 touchdowns and played very well even though Aaron Rodgers passed for 303 yards, Most of those yards was while the 49ers were in a nickel defense only rushing 3-4 players. The 49ers look like the team to beat in the NFC while Green Bay's defense played like their 32nd ranked defense from last season.
The Baltimore Ravens looked very impressive on both sides of the ball in a 44-13 rout of the Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Flacco stepped his game up on Monday Night Football and everyone was quick to react. However, this game was very close half way through the third quarter. The Ravens only led 17-13 when it appeared the Bengals just threw in the towel after a Ray Rice touchdown extended the lead 24-13. We will see what they are made of this week when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
The biggest surprise of the 2012 NFL opening week has to be the referees. Note to the NFL commissioner, bring back the refs! This is just ridiculous. No offense to them, but they missed a ton of calls and called penalties when they were not needed. We all see the Green Bay/San Francisco game with the block in the back. Most of us seen the dropped pass by Baltimore in the end zone, even after an official replay. If they are not brought back, it is going to cost a team an earned win. Count on it.

RG3 DEBUT HUGE SUCCESS
RG3 IMPRESSIVE IN FIRST ROOKIE START
Week one in the NFL is always hard to make the right picks, but I guarantee very few gave Washington a chance on the road against the New Orleans Saints. We always learn a few things on opening Sunday, but have we learned enough? We did learn one thing, Robert Griffin III can play the position. On Sunday, RG3 showed us all his talent or is the Saint defense really that bad. We debate.
New Orleans is always tough at home in the dome, but Sunday showed us the value of this Saint coaching staff. The Redskins led by rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III came to the dome and pulled off a 40-32 upset against the former artist known as the Saints. RG3 was cool, calm, and collective on Sunday, showing that he has all the abilities needed to be a successful quarterback.
Griffin III completed 19-26 passes for 320 yards and 2 touchdowns. RG3 also ran for 42 yards on 10 rushing attempts. The Saints committed 3 turnovers while the Redskins had none. RG3 and company piled up 464 yards of total offense against a questionable Saint defense. Only time will tell if Griffin III is that good or the Saint defense is that bad.
Robert Griffin III was the only rookie starter out of 5 total to not have a turnover on Sunday, a key stat in the Redskins win over New Orleans. The Washington defense intercepted Drew Brees twice and forced a turnover. The Redskins(1-0) are on the road again next Sunday as they take on the new look St. Louis Rams(0-1).
2012-2013 AFC CONFERENCE OUTLOOK
AFC CONFERENCE FAVORITES
The AFC Conference in the NFL may finally equal the NFC going into the 2012-2013 season this year. The NFC has dominated the NFL for the last 5 years, winning 4 Superbowls with New York(2), New Orleans(1), and Green Bay(1). However, the AFC looks to change things around as new AFC powerhouse teams move up the ranks. Here are the AFC rankings.
NEW ENGLAND- The Patriots are always in playoff contention and this year will be no different. In fact, look for the Pats to be better then last season. The Patriots took care of defensive issues in the off season and should be a much better front seven. Still don't know about this secondary so beware. Tom Brady has weapons on offense and the only questions they have is on that offensive front. If they can't block for Brady, it may be a long season for the Superbowl runner up. To be the best, you have to beat the best and that starts in New England. The Patriots should be clear division winners with the issues of New York and the inexperience in Buffalo.
BALTIMORE- The Ravens should have been playing in the Superbowl last season, but they let opportunity and mistakes spoil their invite. The Ravens have learned yet another lesson, but is it too late? More so, the defense is a year older and without defensive player of the year Suggs for another 2 months or so. They are in a tough division also. Baltimore should be smooth on offense and this defense will be solid, but not elite. Without Suggs, it will be tough. Joe Flacco and Ray Rice should have big years again and if they stay healthy, they should take the AFC North.
HOUSTON- The Texans won their first franchise playoff game last season led by their third string quarterback. With Matt Schaub healthy, the sky is the limit for this club. Arian Foster is an elite quarterback and this offense is a well balanced machine. The Texan defense is solid in all areas. We will have to keep an eye on special teams this season, but if your scoring touchdowns, who cares. Add the fact that they are in the same division as the Titans, Colts, and Jaguars, they should be clear favorites for another playoff appearance.
DENVER- Payton Manning begins his new era with a tough talented Bronco squad that won a playoff game last season led by Tim Tebow. Manning looks great and he has some young talented receivers to throw too. The Bronco defense is nasty and young. Despite their age, they play like a veteran team. Denver should be a clear favorite to win the AFC West. Oakland always stumbles and you never know what your getting with Kansas City. Look for Payton to have a big year and look for the Broncos to be playoff contenders.
PITTSBURGH- The Steelers have a solid foundation, but I think this may be a tough season for them. This Steeler defense doesn't have an identity and it is not a dominant defense like we have seen the past few years. Don't get me wrong, they are a top 10 defense, but not like Steeler standards. My only concern on offense is this front line. Big Ben always takes a beating and by the end of the year he is always banged up. If they can protect Ben, he will get the ball there. I look for them to have a down year, but they should still make the playoffs.
CINCINNATI- The Bengals shocked the world last season, a season that they were picked to finish last. AJ Green is elite. If Dalton can polish his skills, they are untouchable. The Bengal offense is solid, but not great. The offensive line is good and the sky is the limit for this young squad. The Bengal defense is top 5 without question, if they stay healthy. It seems like they are always injured and banged up. I like this team in a tough division. However, you just don't know what your getting with them. A winning season would give them back to back winning seasons, first since 1981-1982.
- New England
- Baltimore
- Houston
- Denver
- Pittsburgh
- Cincinnati
- Oakland
- Tennessee
- San Diego
- New York Jets
- Buffalo
- Kansas City
- Indianapolis
- Jacksonville
- Cleveland
- Miami
2012 NFL WEEK ONE PICKS
2012-2013 NFL WEEK ONE PICKS
The 2012-2013 NFL season is upon us and it is time for some football! Welcome back to NFL Picks For Free. This is the first time we did a blog so this is a new experience. But when it comes to picking games, we have been doing this for 20 years! We picked 71% winners last season and we are looking to go even higher! Make sure you come back every week to get your picks, news, and notes on everything NFL related! It's game time!
INDIANAPOLIS VS CHICAGO
Andrew Luck will make his debut against a tough Bear defense and Jay Cutler will have his old receiver Brandon Marshall back. Look for the Colts to move the ball on this Bear defense that isn't elite as they were a year ago. We may be talking more about the Bear offense then Chicago's defense. This will be no easy contest, but Chicago will pull this one out. CHI 28 IND 21
PHILADELPHIA VS CLEVELAND
The Eagles are once again favorites and everyone may be favorites against the Browns this season. The Eagles are tough, especially on defense. This Cleveland defense is no push over though and they have a new look offense that may surprise many this season. If Vick can stay healthy, the sky is the limit. Look for Philly to slowly dispose of the Browns in this one. PHI 31 CLE 17
NEW ENGLAND VS TENNESSEE
Tom Brady and company are back once again leading a dangerous offense that can steam roll anyone. With much needed defensive help, New England should be solid on defense or so they hope. Jake Locker will start and has showed promise against first team defenses in the preseason. The Titans are at home, but this will be a rough start for the Titans. NE 35 TEN 20
ATLANTA VS KANSAS CITY
Matt Ryan and this Falcon offense can be a well balanced machine this season. They Falcons only questions may be on defense. The Chiefs are once again healthy and we will finally get to see the team we looked for last year. I like the Chief offense and defense. My only concern is Matt Cassell. The Chiefs are tough at home, but Atlanta wins. ATL 35 KC 24
JACKSONVILLE VS MINNESOTA
There are a lot of questions in regards to both teams in this one. Will Adrian Peterson play? What about Maurice Jones-Drew? The winner will depend on which sophomore quarterback steps up, Blaine Gabbert or Christian Ponder. Ponder looked pretty impressive in preseason and Gabbert had a few bright spots. This is a toss up. MIN 23 JAX 21
WASHINGTON VS NEW ORLEANS
RG3 will make his rookie debut in New Orleans and the Redskins look to pull an early season upset. The Saints are without Sean Payton, but Drew Brees is an on field general. Washington will be able to score points this season and their defense may be approved. However, this one is in New Orleans and the Saints rarely lose at home. Well, not this time. NO 45 WAS 24
BUFFALO VS NEW YORK JETS
Buffalo is a much better team entering this season and some are saying the 2nd best team in the division. The Jets have trouble scoring in the preseason, but the preseason doesn't count. I don't see Buffalo scoring much on offense, especially against this Jet defense. Until Ryan Fitzpatrick becomes consistent, the Bills are not better then the Jets. If Mark Sanchez doesn't perform at home, you may just begin to hear some Tebow chants. A close game, but the Jets will score enough. NYJ 17 BUF 13
ST LOUIS VS DETROIT
The Rams are coming off a disappointing 2-14 season and are looking to make some noise. Sam Bradford is healthy again and Jeff Fisher is now head coach. Bradford has looked good so far, but they are playing a nasty defense. This new school Detroit team has all the potential in the world. However, can they keep it together? The Lions do for this one. DET 41 STL 24
MIAMI VS HOUSTON
The Houston Texans enter this season with swagger and look for them to build on what they accomplished last season with a third string rookie quarterback. With Matt Schaub back, this may be the most dangerous offense in the AFC. Miami will start rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill who does have potential. Against this Texan defense, probably not. HOU 38 MIA 13
SAN FRANCISCO VS GREEN BAY
The Packers went 15-1 last season and looked to be on their way to another Superbowl run, but was derailed by the New York Giants. The 49ers were the surprise team of the year going 13-3. This may be an early NFC championship preview. Both teams are capable of winning, but Alex Smith still hasn't won me over. Plus, Green Bay is at home. GB 24 SF 14
SEATTLE AT ARIZONA
Russell Wilson will get the start for the Seahawks, which makes a total of 5 rookie starters at quarterback this opening week. Wilson has been great and he shows potential. They face an Arizona team that still doesn't have an identity. John Skelton will get the start, but he has struggled this preseason. However, Arizona is experienced and should win in a close one. ARZ 20 SEA 17
CAROLINA VS TAMPA BAY
Cam Newton impressed us all last season on his way to rookie of the year honors. He leads a Panther team that is explosive on offense and improved on defense. Tampa Bay will be led by Josh Freeman, but I am not sure what we will get. I didn't like their look last season. The Bucs are at home, but I see no slump for Cam in this one. CAR 31 TB 17
PITTSBURGH VS DENVER
The Payton Manning era in Denver begins on prime time television at Denver. They couldn't have scripted this better. Interestingly enough, the Steelers have to still be upset after the Broncos knocked them out of the playoffs earlier this year. These are two equal teams on defense and offense. Special teams? Field goals? Yes, edge to Denver. Manning wins game one! DEN 20 PIT 17
CINCINNATI VS BALTIMORE
The Bengals were the surprise team of last season and they have a great quarterback-receiver combination going. They also have a great defense that ranked 7th a year ago. The Ravens swept the series last season, but the games were close. This is a different defense without Suggs, but the Ravens should hold on to a close win at home. BAL 23 CIN 16
SAN DIEGO VS OAKLAND
San Diego and Oakland both look to rebound on disappointing seasons a year ago. Oakland is tough in the black hole and Carson Palmer has had enough time to learn the system. We just never know which Charger team we will get. They are on the road and I don't know if the defense can hold their own just yet. Oakland wins this one. OAK 19 SD 17
