Payton Manning Throws 7 TD In Blowout Over Ravens
Payton Manning and the Denver Broncos lit up the stage last night in a record setting performance by Manning. The Broncos scored 35 second half points as Manning tied the NFL record by throwing 7 touchdown passes in the 49-27 win over Baltimore. The Ravens looked good early on and led 17-14 at halftime. The Raven defense appeared to look confused, probably communication problems with all the new players on defense. Manning and the Broncos scored 21 in the third quarter as the Ravens failed to stop the Denver offense.
Payton Manning finished 27-42, throwing for 462 yards and 7 touchdowns. Demaryius Thomas caught 5 catches for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns. Julius Thomas has a huge night, catching 5 balls for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns, the first 2 of his young career. New addition Wes Welker caught 9 passes for 67 yards and also had 2 touchdown grabs. Denver was held to 65 yards running as a team.
Baltimore's Joe Flacco completed 34-62, passing for 362. Flacco has 2 touchdown passes but also threw 2 interceptions. Tory Smith led the receivers with 4 catches for 82 yards. Rookie Marlon Brown caught 4 balls for 65 yards and a touchdown. Ray Rice only carried the ball 12 times for 30 yards.
Denver looked good last night, but the secondary is still a big question. Flacco tore the Denver defense up. I believe in time, the Ravens will be fine, but the chemistry isn't there just yet. As for the Broncos, their offense is very dangerous, the AFC better take note.
